FSA

A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a great way to save money on taxes. Participants set aside a pre-determined amount from each paycheck, pre-tax, in order to be reimbursed for certain approved expenses. One may contribute to a health, dependent care or parking and transit flexible spending account. The pre-elected amount must be used by the end of the year.

Some examples of eligible expenses for these accounts are:

  • Medical deductible
  • Out-of-pocket medical expenses
  • Office visit and prescription drug co-pays
  • Glasses and contact lenses
  • Dental procedures
  • LASIK procedure
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Day care centers or family child care
  • Elder care
  • Day camps and after school care
  • Preschool
  • Train or bus fare
  • Parking facilities

This is just a small sample from a long list of covered expenses.
